I am so looking forward to teaching at Reicher for the 2019-2020 school year. I have taught for ten years and I became a teacher not to teach "facts" to students, but instead to mentor and mold young men and women into great thinkers who will make a difference in this world. My area of expertise in teaching is social studies and I have a BA and MA in History and a JD from Baylor University. I chose teaching as a career after working as a lawyer for several years. After law school, I served as a clerk for judges in both the Mississippi Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. I then worked for a downtown Dallas law firm in the areas of intellectual property and business litigation. However, when my son was born I decided I wanted to follow a career path that allowed me to spend more time at home with him and be involved in his life. An opportunity arose for me to teach at a college preparatory independent school and that was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I taught nine years at that school and eventually became department chair for social studies and coached the mock trial team. I love teaching social studies because as I tell my students "History is the study of everything!" Every person, family, and culture has a story of how they came to be and I love watching students grow in awareness that we are all a part of a greater story as part of our common humanity.
Both my wife and I are native Wacoans and I have a son who is 13 and going into the Eighth Grade. My hobbies are coaching my son and being a free Uber driver for his athletic and social life! I love to travel and attend sporting events, especially all things Baylor. I can't wait to meet everyone in a few weeks and see how much the students will grow mentally and spiritually this coming year!
