My name is Henry Veselka Jr. and I am excited to return to the Reicher Faculty. I feel almost like I'm coming home because I played football for Coach John Vasek here and graduated from RCHS in 1964. After attending Hill Jr College, I went to UT Arlington graduating with a B.S. degree in Mathematics, 1968.
After teaching Physics and Geometry at Richfield H.S. (now Waco H.S.) , 1968-69, I served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-73, touring Iceland and the VietNam waters on the carrier Saratoga. I enjoy mathematics, and I enjoy teaching my students the rules, shortcuts, and uses for math. My hobbies include Sudoku and Advanced Probability Theory in Vegas.
From 1973-84, I taught 9th-grade math and Algebra at University Jr H.S. (now an HEB). This is where I met another teacher who likes math, Dolores Martinez. We celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary on July 20th (also, the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing). We have two grown children, Heather and Henry Mark.
From 1984-98, I taught Computer Programming, Geometry, and Basic Math at Waco H.S. Retired, #1. From 1998-2006, I taught Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Algebra II here at RCHS, Retired, #2. From 2006-2016, I taught Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Algebra II at Rapoport Academy H.S. Retired, #3. From 2018-2019, I taught 7th-grade math at Rapoport Middle School. Retired, #4. Thank you, Mrs. V, for helping me get through that. I'm looking forward to teaching math to young adults, again.
